The updated version of the chair required new foam and padding on the inside. The outside was covered with a deep rosy pink and gold cut velvet from Designers Guild. It looks comfortable and wonderful in its new home.

A Dining Room Update
My client wanted to make a few changes in her dining room. She has beautiful furniture and silk window treatments but the room still wasn't what she wanted. I encouraged her to put a dynamic color on the walls.I selected a Sherwin Williams red called Radish. It doesn't have a lot of orange and it isn't too brown. Radish is a deep, clear shade of red with with just a hint of purple.
The existing light was a builder grade, brass, Colonial style fixture. The new light is a gorgeous vintage chandelier I found in a local shop. It was altered to fit the room's eight foot ceilings. The all glass Marie Therese design is perfect in the room.
The artwork is an oil painting with vibrant colors. The traditional still life has been given an updated modern style.
These few changes have created a stunning dining room in my client's home.

The dining room before was nice, good even, but not the stunner it is now.

My Style In a Picture
Over at the blog From The Right Bank, there is a design challenge to find your style in a picture. So here's mine. This room has the mix of modern and classic that I love. It also has a neutral background with color layered on top that I find appealing. So I guess I should come clean and say this is a showhouse room I did a few years ago. My goal for this room was to design a setting that would show my style as I designer.

Designer Guild and Osborne & Little Wallcovering
This gorgeous pattern is Cabriole from the Florimund Collection at Designers Guild. I was never a fan of wallpapering only one wall in a room. These amazing patterns have changed my mind. Using a vibrant pattern on a focal wall in a bedroom looks fantastic
The pattern Marivault is from the Pompadour Collection at Osborne & Little. This elegant scroll pattern is a perfect scale to wrap around a room.

This pattern called Soubise is also from the Pompadour Collection. It is a wonderful combination of paisley and floral. The overscaled paisley pattern is filled with a floral design. Wallcovering is a great way to update your home. I use it often with my design clients.

Living Rooms
Living rooms come in many looks, shapes and sizes. Here are a few I find well designed, stylish and comfortable. This living room has a cool blue, grey and white palette that is calm and easy to live with. The furniture arrangement is great for watching television and it is also a comfortable conversation area. The Roman shade in a printed fabric with a border makes a stunning focal point in this setting.
The grey and yellow color combination in this room gives it a fresh, updated look. The inviting style of the setting comes from the clean lined furniture covered in soft, lush fabrics.
I love the soft colors in this room. It is full of light and very charming. Most living rooms are grounded with a sofa. What I like here are the groups of chairs. It is versatile, welcoming and comfortable. The high ceilings, beautiful moldings and slightly formal details create a beautifully designed room.

Muriel Eulich
I have written and posted about Muriel before. She now has a wonderful light filled space where she creates her art. In the new studio there is plenty of room for her amazing, extra large watercolors. Her series of women and pearls covers two of the walls in the space.
Other paintings by Muriel are also on display in the studio.
Muriel strikes a pose.

The paintings are layers of color, form and pattern. The colors are vibrant, the forms vivacious and the patterns flow over the paintings.

Scalamandre' and Maria Flora Outdoor Fabrics
The current selections of outdoor fabrics are amazing. They are versatile, fun and practical. The fabrics in this photo are from Scalamandre'. The patterns are Kiawah, Rhododendron and Boxwood.http://www.scalamandre.com/
The pattern Erice is from Maria Flora Fabrics, which specializes in outdoor fabrics. The solution dyed yarns have a soft, natural hand. The fabrics are light fast, anti mold and stain resistant.
What's great about these outdoor fabrics is they are also wonderful to use indoors. I have used outdoor fabrics in family rooms and breakfast areas. Easy clean up and stain resistant. And wouldn't they be great for dog beds? That will be next.
