Updating is an important area of interior design. The kitchen already had cherry wood cabinets and new granite counters but it needed more. One of the design aspects the update needed to accomplish was to bring the old and new materials in the kitchen together. Using the same pattern for the wallcovering and the fabric helped to unify the various elements in the room.

Accessories used in the correct scale and proportion were added to accentuate the charm of the kitchen. Such as the wall sink used to dispense cold water in the days of the ice box.

Sitting Area of Loft

In this chic, comfortable sitting area I renewed vintage furniture. The sofa and chairs are covered in a sage green washed linen. The walls are painted a soft lavender. The light palette enhances the calm feeling of the area.

Lots of color and comfort make this room a great setting for family gatherings. The chrome frame chair is a vintage Milo Baughman design recovered in a cut velvet fabric from Designers Guild. The area rug is a custom hand knotted wool design.
