Jaipur Collection From F. Schumacher

F. Schumacher has created The Jaipur Collection, a group of hand block wallcoverings. The Jaipur Collection is " hand blocked using traditional methods and classic patterns in new interpretations and colorations."
from the F Schumacher website
I love the patterns and colors in this collection. The patterns are versatile, at home in modern, transitional or traditional settings. The colorways range from vibrant to sedate, all are stunning and add sophistication to wherever they are placed.
The Rampura pattern in turquoise makes an elegant background for an entry. It would also make a wonderful focal wall in a bedroom.
Askandra Flower in the pear and water colorway adds interest without overwhelming the space.
Katsura Stripe/Oyster in a beautiful neutral design.
Askara Flower in delft is the perfect back drop for the blue and white grouping.

Depending on how you use it, wallcovering can add elegance, whimsy, sophistication, charm, balance, drama, energy, romance...  Which are you looking for?

The 5 Senses Tour (#5)

I get a little melancholy as winter approaches; it's not my favorite season.  So, my mind has been on those things that keep me warm and lift my spirits....
Adele is a goddess.  I love this song.

I own a print of this Van Gogh painting ("Olives Under the Sunshine")...warms me up just looking at it.
I'm drinking Almond Biscotti black tea from Teavana.  Heaven is. :)
Auntie Mame - one of my all-time favorite movies.  The Bohemian Queen.

Wool blankets - a winter staple. There is this great store not far from my house that sells amazing Pendletons like the ones below.  Want your own?  Shop for one at their website.

sacred spots

I am so fortunate to live in a beautiful area of the world.  New England has it all - lakes, mountains, ocean, the four seasons.  This spot is less than three miles from my home, and I visit often.  I took these shots last summer.  I feel like that granite bench was put there just for me, and it's where I tell the lake all my secrets.

Where is your sacred space?

Peacock Feathers

I think peacocks have to be the bohemians of the bird world.  I have a few feathers scattered around my cottage - love 'em.  Whether a single feather or a gaudy riot of them, it's all good.
What say you?

a rustic christmas & a pancake recipe

I like to keep Christmas simple.  Thankfully, my family doesn't indulge in the commercialism that suffocates all of us this time of year.  We aim for a laid-back time, hanging out together and enjoying seasonal treats.  Here are some images that reflect my ideal Christmas & a yummy pancake recipe...

I don't knit, but if I did, I'd make these cute little trees.  Click on the image to purchase the pattern.

Cranberry-Orange Pancakes with Cranberry-Maple Syrup

In New England, cranberries and maple syrup are a must for the holidays.  I am definitely making these!

NYC Loft

There are a lot of  loft looks these days. They are often dark and gloomy. A loft is light filled from tall windows and has wide open spaces with specific areas. When I saw photos of this NYC loft at Vogue I knew it was the real deal. Now this is a loft. It belongs to Vogue staffer, Devon Radziwell and her husband.
This is such a beautiful space, from the sheen of the wood floors to the high ceilings and the series of tall windows, it is all amazing.
The loft is open, functional well designed and decorated.
The brick walls are a great back drop for the the smooth surfaces of the table, chairs, cabinets and counters.
A perfect open table for the living area.
There is plenty of storage in this office for two.
The bedroom is given a softer look by using carpet and bedding that adds charm and comfort to the space.
Loft living may not be for everyone but this space definitively shows it at its best.

two beautiful videos

This video of Fruili, Italy is simply stunning.  It starts off fun and boisterous, then moves into meditative landscape scenes.  Such a loving tribute to a beautiful country.
Watch it full screen if you can.

This video you may have seen already - an amazing starling murmuration.  It's like the wind becomes visible.
